Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Subsurface tile drainage is essential in the construction and functionality of golf course greens. However, due to turf management, the waters conveyed by the drainage network contain potentially high levels of nutrients and pesticides. The objective of this research is to assess the subsurface hydrology and efficiency of different filter materials and in-line filter designs at removing or reducing the levels of pollutants in the discharge waters. The filter materials significantly reduced the amount of phosphorus, chlorothalonil, and metalaxyl in the drainage waters.
