Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Insect specimens were collected from a laboratory colony of Lygus lineolaris and total RNA was extracted. Each specimen yielded around 10 micrograms of RNA. When this RNA was further purified into polyA RNA, about 2% of the RNA sample remained. From this, cDNA libraries were constructed. Sequencing was performed by the USDA ARS in Stoneville, MS. Sequences were analyzed by comparison with the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information, at the website http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) tBLASTx algorithms. An additional sequence, the fourth identified, that appears to encode a polygalacturonase(PG) enzyme was identified from library cDNA sequences. This sequence is unique from other three PG gene sequences, but shares sequence similarity at the translated level.
