(Hymenoptera: Eulophidea): A new natural ememy of a gall midge complex (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae). Ecological Society of America (ESA). Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: A new endoparasitoid kills 40 – 100% of Dasineura oxycoccana and Prodiplosis vaccinii larvae, pest midges that seriously reduce blueberry yield. Female wasps methodically probe leaf buds for host larvae and their parasitism can be more effective than chemical control. With each successive molt, hosts become increasingly vulnerable to Aprostocetus attack. |
