The need for sunflower genetic research is ever increasing with more insect and disease problems nationwide. Ongoing collaboration with other scientists in North America on increasing sunflower diversity was illustrated. Preliminary data on insect resistant lines and experimental hybrids was discussed. The impact of a National Sunflower Association equipment gift to the Sunflower Unit was made clear to the producers through this lecture and proceedings.
