Enterobacter morus sp. nov., a novel Enterobacter species associated with bacterial wilt on mulberry. International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology. 61:2769-2774. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: A mulberry pathogenetic bacterial strain R18-2T isolated from the diseased mulberry root was analyzed by a polyphasic taxonomic study. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis combined with rpoB gene sequence analysis allocated the strain R18-2T to the genus Enterobacter. The strain was Gram negative rod, facultative anaerobe, peritrichous flagella, 0.3-1.0µm wide, 0.8-2.0µm long, having a DNA G+C content of about 55.1±0.5 mol%. Genomic DNA fingerprinting and comparison of cellular fatty acids analysis showed differences from 8 Enterobacter type strains. DNA–DNA relatedness test distinguished strain R18-2T from 8 closely phylogenetically related Enterobacter type species. Based on these data, the novel specie Enterobacter morus sp. nov. is proposed, with strain R18-2T (=CGMCC 1.10322T) as the type strain. |
