Genome sequences of three tunicamycin-producing Streptomyces strains; S. chartreusis NRRL 12338, S. chartreusis NRRL 3882, and S. lysosuperificus ATCC 31396. Journal of Bacteriology. 193(24):7021-7022. Interpretive Summary: This paper announces the genomic sequencing of three tunicamycin-producing streptomycetes. Taken together with previously completed genomes, these data will aid our understanding of tunicamycin genetics and biosynthesis, and will facilitate cross-species data mining for the biosynthesis of several other commercially important natural products. These data are expected to benefit researchers interested in antibiotics and enzyme inhibitors. Technical Abstract: S. chartreusis strains NRRL 12338 and NRRL 3882, S. clavuligerus NRRL 3585, and S. lysosuperificus ATCC 31396, are known producers of tunicamycins, and also of charteusins, clavulinate, cephalosporins, holomycins, and calcimycin. Here we announce the sequencing of the S. lysosuperificus and the two S. chartreusis genomes which together with the published S. clavuligerus genome, will facilitate genomic data mining of these secondary metabolites. |
