Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The USDA-ARS National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation maintains the base collection of genetic resources for the National Plant Germplasm System, a network of federal plant collections focused on conserving crops key to American agriculture. NCGRP research scientists have found ways to conserve Citrus genetic resources critical to industry and breeding programs as well as over 1300 other Citrus related accessions at the USDA-ARS National Clonal Germplasm Repository in Riverside, California. Long-term preservation ensures that materials which are available today may provide the necessary traits for improved resistance to changing climates or the next disease. NCGRP staff is committed to work closely with industry members, research scientists, and collection managers to design and implement Citrus conservation strategies that are both efficient and successful. |
