Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The risk of vector-borne disease spread is increasing due to significant changes and variability in the global climate and increasing global travel and trade. Understanding the relationships between climate variability and disease outbreak patterns are critical to the design and construction of predictive models. Disease vector data are spotty and disease outbreak data are often incomplete and hard to access. In an attempt to establish better outbreak data records, we present a compilation of georeferenced reports of chikungunya and dengue outbreak locations for Eastern Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and Southeastern Asia.
