Monitoring vegetative land cover and water use using satellite imagery. Meeting Abstract. 2012 CDROM. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Vegetative land cover and water use are the key indicators required by the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) for promoting the production and use of modern bioenergy, particularly in the developing world. Since the statistical data and field observations are limited in the developing countries, remote sensing data provides an alternative way to monitor land cover and water use in the "data poor" areas. In the presentation, the roles of remote sensing in vegetation and water use monitoring will be discussed. The tools and examples to integrate multiple remote sensing data sources for vegetation monitoring will be discussed. Water use and application examples will be presented. Specific considerations for Africa and future application directions will be discussed. |
