Interpretive Summary: Leafhoppers cause millions of dollars of damage to agricultural crops in the US. In order to effectively communicate about pests and other species, it is crucial to have only one name for one species. One leafhopper genus was found to be a homonym of a moth genus, and one genus and one species were spelled multiple ways in their original decsription. This paper resolves these problems by replacing the leafhopper homonym with a new name, and fixing the correct spellings of the other genus and species. It will enable researchers and others (including APHIS) to effectively communicate about leafhoppers.

Technical Abstract: The leafhopper genus Aspidia Yang & Zhang is a junior homonym and replaced here by Sochinsogonoidea, nomen novum. Nilgiriscopus Viraktamath and Roxasellana stellata Zhang & Zhang are fixed as the correct original spellings.
