January/February 2014:37-40. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Weed control in nursery container crops is primarily accomplished with preemergence herbicides. However, there are some crops that are sensitive to herbicide applications, and some sites where herbicides are not registered for use. Parboiled rice hulls can be used where herbicides are either not safe or not registered. Rice hulls applied at a depth of 0.5 to 1 inch in containers provides excellent control of liverwort and bittercress, two of the most problematic weeds in nursery container production. |
