(GA State University, Albany, GA) Interpretive Summary: none required Technical Abstract: USDA ARS National Peanut Research Laboratory has a very diverse scientific staff conducting research to address the needs of the United States peanut industry. Research is conducted in the fields of mycology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, breeding, agronomy, economics, and engineering. Research updates are provided at numerous industry meetings annually as general research updates as well as tailored for stakeholders to include in-depth analysis on topics of interest. The updates include research: mycology, aflatoxin, molecular biology, genetics, irrigation (both overhead sprinkler and drip), expert systems for irrigation scheduling and farm planning, crop rotation sequencing, quality improvements, economic analysis, maturity determination and methods to improve maturity, post-harvest engineering (curing, storage, moisture determination, grading, handling, processing), and sustainability. |
