Technical Abstract: Cryptosporidium parvum is infectious for many animals including humans. It is found worldwide, is highly prevalent, and can cause illness and death. The disease, cryptosporidiosis, is characterized by diarrhea. The organism, passed in feces contaminates the environment and is spread through water. Generally, young and immunologically compromised animals are most susceptible to infection. Disinfection is difficult. Few drugs work well either for prophylaxes or treatment. There are no vaccines.
