Complete genome sequence of an avian paramyxovirus representative of putative new serotype 13. Genome Announcements. 4(4):e00729-16. doi:10.1128/genomeA.00729-16. Interpretive Summary: Avian paramyxoviruses (APMVs) belong to the genus Avulavirus of the family Paramyxoviridae. There are 9 confirmed serotypes (APMV 1 to 9) and 3 putative serotypes (APMV-10 to -12) in the genus. Three unclassified APMVs (APMV 10 to 12) were isolated from rockhopper penguin in the Falkland Islands, common snipe in France and Eurasian wigeon in Italy. Here we provide the first report on the complete genome sequence of a novel avian paramyxovirus isolated from white-fronted goose in Ukraine in 2011. The genomic characterization of APMV/White-fronted goose/Askania-Nova/48-15-02/11 suggests that this virus represent a new avian paramyxovirus serotype, APMV-13. The genomic data presented here provide further knowledge on APMV diversity and will facilitate future studies on APMV evolution. Technical Abstract: Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a virus of a putative new serotype of avian paramyxovirus (APMV). The virus was isolated from a white-fronted goose in Ukraine in 2011 and designated white-fronted goose/Ukraine/Askania-Nova/48-15- 02/2011. The genomic characterization of the isolate suggests that it represents the novel avian paramyxovirus group APMV 13. |
