Interpretive Summary: The stable fly is a noxious hematophagous pest of livestock, feral animals and humans. In the US, traps have been used for a many years to survey stable flies and affect some degree of population reduction. A new stable fly trap, the Knight Stick (KS), has recently appeared on the market and studies were designed to make comparisons between the KS and a standard trap, the Olson Sticky Fly trap. Results demonstrated that the KS trap with the KS Sticky wrap catches significantly more stable flies than the Olson trap with the Olson Sticky Sleeve wrap. Our results are important because the KS trap is a significant improvement over the Olson trap. It is highly attractive to stable flies, has a small footprint, fits in tight places, and is portable.
