Genome Sequences of Eight Aspergillus flavus spp. and One A. parasiticus sp., Isolated from Peanut Seeds in Georgia. Genome Announcements. 4(2):e00278-16.doi:10.1128/genomeA.00278-16.. Interpretive Summary: As part of our Aspergillus biodiversity studies, we sequenced the genomes of 8 A. flavus isolates, three of which are nonaflatoxigenic, and one isolate of A. parasiticus. The data were uploaded to the public in a National Database, NCBI GenBank. The information and analyses obtained will allow studies on population structure to determine how the genetic diversity in section Flavi species is changing, and to recognize recombination events. Furthermore, it will allow the determination of evolutionary processes and the direction of this evolution. Technical Abstract: Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus fungi, carcinogen-mycotoxins producers, infect peanut seeds, causing considerable impact on both human health and the economy. Here we report 9 genome sequences of Aspergillus spp. isolated from peanut seeds. The information obtained will allow conducting biodiversity studies and evolutionary processes, essential for developing control strategies. |
