Draft Genome Sequence of Salmonella enterica subspecies diarizonae Serovar IIIb 61:k:1,5,(7) Strain CRJJGF_00165 (Phylum Gammaproteobacteria). Genome Announcements. 4(6):e01322-16. Interpretive Summary: Salmonella enterica subspecies diarizonae are usually associated with reptiles, however it has been found in beef, chickens, sheep, and wild birds. Salmonella enterica subspecies diarizonae is split into two serovars, IIIb has two flagella antigens and is diphasic, IIIa only has one flagella antigen and is monophasic. S. IIIb is rarely infects humans, however, they have been isolated from ill humans and have the potential to be pathogenic. The genome sequence data from S. IIIb will be useful to understand the genetics that make this subspecies adapted to reptiles and of low pathogenicity to humans. Technical Abstract: Here, we report a 4.78 Mbp draft genome sequence of the Salmonella enterica subspecies diarizonae serovar IIIb 61:k:1,5,(7) strain CRJJGF_00165, isolated from ground beef in 2007. |
