Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Orthologous gene replacement technique has been developed to confirm functions of key virulence genes in 'Candidatus Liberibacters asiaticus'. These results facilitate the development of antivirulence drugs that specifically target functional domains of virulence gene products to disarm pathogenicity or reduce virulence. This genome-based antivirulence treatment will provide a new approach to mitigate disease. Research progress towards the development of a novel therapeutic strategy for HLB management will be presented.
