Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Citrus Huanglongbing (HLB, yellow shoot disease) is currently threatening citrus production in the U.S. and worldwide. While HLB was first found in the U.S. in 2005, the disease has been in southern China for over a hundred years. Chinese citrus growers and researchers have dealt with HLB over the years with both successes and failures. This short article is a brief review on HLB history and current status, focusing on Guangdong, China where HLB was first described.
