Interpretive Summary: Tree fruit-related entomological research currently being conducted at the USDA-ARS laboratory in Wapato, WA is reviewed. Scientists at the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) in Wapato, WA conduct research on insect pests of tree fruits and potato. The tree fruit research group employs eight entomologists having expertise in molecular biology, chemical ecology, insect physiology/behavior, insect ecology, biocontrol, and IPM. Their research takes a multi-pronged approach to improve knowledge of the biology/ecology of insect pests, and to develop novel biorational approaches for their management.
