Interpretive Summary: Disease-causing phytoplasms are spread among plants pincipally by leafhoppers, causing hundreds of milions of dollars of damage to a wide variety of crops every year. In order to comunicate effectively about these pests, it is essential that everyone use the same names for the same species. However, some species have two synoymous names, causing confusion. This paper moves one species to different genus, and places another species as its junior synonym. It will improve the efficiency of governmental (including APHIS), agricultural, and research workers in the identifcation of the affected species.

Technical Abstract: Two nomenclatural changes are proposed in the tribe Athysanini (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae). Chlorotettix sexvarus DeLong, 1959 is newly placed in the genus Cocrassana Blocker & Larsen and is a senior synonym of the type species of Cocrassana, C. riepmai Blocker & Larsen, 1991, syn. n. A revised diagnosis and illustrations of the species are provided.
