Interpretive Summary: This report assesses the vulnerabilities and means for enacting adaptation measures under a future climate in the Bay Area. The report first provides information on the future climate to set the framework for conditions that the Bay Area Region in California will face in the 21st century. It presents modeled climate projections that examine future temperature, precipitation, drought and snowpack, fog occurrence, fire and sea level rise. Multiple sectors are examined, including energy infrastructure, transportation, land use and community planning, urban water, public health, emergency management and economic resilience. Natural and working lands are also assessed for their vulnerabilities and the potential for adaptation, including wildlife, forest management, freshwater systems, the delta baylands and coast, rangelands and agriculture.
