Interpretive Summary: Flat mites have a worldwide distribution and includes many economically important plant feeding species. Some of these mites are associated with the transmission of plant viruses that can cause diseases in important crops. This article addresses for the first time an interactive database and provides taxonomic information on 1012 known species across 39 genera, their zoogeographical distributions and a key to the genera of the world. This information will be helpful to plant protection and quarantine agents, and programs and universities working in agriculture and forestry.

Technical Abstract: This paper announces a database on the taxonomy, distribution and host plants of mites of the family Tenuipalpidae Berlese (Acari: Tetranychoidea), available online at https://www.tenuipalpidae.ibilce.unesp.br/. In the Tenuipalpidae Database the recorded world distribution and range of host plants is provided for each tenuipalpid species, including synonyms, with a list of all relevant publications.
