Technical Abstract: This book represents the proceedings of the 13th Annual Bristol-Myers Squibb/Mead Johnson Nutrition Research Symposium entitled "Nutritional Assessment of Elderly Populations: Measure and Function".The primary focus of this work is on the biochemical measurement of protein status; lipids; antioxidant nutrients; water soluble vitamins with particular emphasis on vitamins B6, B12, and folate; and vitamin D and calcium. Reports are based on data on the elderly cohorts of the Framingham Heart Study, NHANES III, the Boston Nutritional Status Survey, the New Mexico Aging Process Study, EURONUT Seneca, and the IUNS Seven Country Study.
