Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relative costs of ginning cotton using a saw gin, conventional roller gin, and high-speed roller gin. A cotton ginning cost survey is being conducted. The data collected from the survey will be used to estimate the ginning costs, operational structures, processing capacity, and ginning volume. We anticipated that a better understanding of saw and high-speed roller ginning technologies and their impact on cost will benefit the Western cotton ginning industry by providing decision tools and leading to recommendations for best practices, increased production, and profitability.
