Interpretive Summary: Whiteflies and plant viruses that they transmit are global problems in many crops. The special Insects issue on “Improving Whitefly Management” provides recent insight into the activities of whitefly research around the globe. Many studies have resulted in information that have led to progress on assorted bio-based and traditional strategies for managing both whiteflies and problems from the viruses that they transmit. No single strategy is expected to solve the continued and emerging problems. Therefore, there is a need to continue to refine and develop sustainable strategies to provide relief to growers from whiteflies and associated plant diseases.
