Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This presentation informed the California Cotton Ginners and Growers Association about some of the current research at the USDA-ARS cotton ginning and textile processing laboratories. Projects included cotton plastic contamination detection and removal, gin machinery investigations to improve length uniformity, gin stand saw designs to reduce energy use and wear, and modeling the cost of conventional and high-speed roller ginning and saw ginning.
