Interpretive Summary: In this manuscript we publish and describe the genome from a strain that was collected at a trout hatchery in Idaho. We determined that this bacterium can inhibit the growth of fish pathogens. Having the genome available will be useful in determining if this strain produces novel antibiotics.

Technical Abstract: We present a draft genome of Janthinobacterium lividum strain ID1246 isolated from within a rainbow trout hatchery raceway. Janthinobacterum spp. are well-known producers of antimicrobial compounds. Due to the isolation source, this genome may yield unique biosynthetic gene clusters.
