Interpretive Summary: Chiggers are important parasitic mites affecting animals including the humans. We synonymized a chigger species and reported a new host association from Venezuela. This information is useful for people working with mites of agricultural, medical/veterinary importance, quarantine, forest and invertebrate associations.

Technical Abstract: Chiggers are ectoparasites of vertebrates and can cause trombiculiasis or transmit pathogens to their hosts. In the Neotropical region, the genus Quadraseta Brennan includes 16 valid species. Two of these species, Quadraseta antillarum (Brennan) and Quadraseta brennani (Goff & Whitaker), we noted that both species are morphologically similar. Therefore, we propose, based on both type series, the synonymy of Q. brennani with Q. antillarum. A new host association for this chigger species with the little big-eared bat species, Micronycteris megalotis Gray from Venezuela is recorded, as well.
