Interpretive Summary: The majority of the cave soil mites are not well known and feeding and ecological information are scarce. This article described two new species and discussed the use of new morphological characters to identify species in this rare soil mite family. This study will be important to ecologists, biologists, soil researchers, biocontrol researchers and entomologists.

Technical Abstract: Two new species are described from Northeast and Southeast of Brazil. Neocarus setilatus n. sp. is described from gallery forest in Piauí and Neocarus marambaia n. sp. from a restinga area in Rio de Janeiro, both with the same unique integument character to Opilioacaridae and smaller, broader setae. The importance of setae shape is discussed.
