DOI: https://doi.org/10.1128/mra.01167-21 Interpretive Summary: In this paper we describe the genetic sequence of bovine viral diarrhea virus 1 (BVDV-1) contaminating a tissue culture cell line which was engineered to serve as a system for isolation of foot-and-mouth disease virus, (FMDV). This specific cell line is used for the rapid isolation and serotyping of FMDV in numerous laboratories. The sequence contains the full protein coding sequence and partial untranslated regions (UTRs). Technical Abstract: Here we report the genome of bovine viral diarrhea virus 1 (BVDV-1) contaminating a continuous fetal bovine kidney cell line which was engineered to express the bovine integrins that serve as a receptor for foot-and-mouth disease virus, (FMDV). The cell line (LFBK-aVß6) is used for the rapid isolation and serotyping of FMDV. The sequence contains the full polyprotein coding sequence and partial untranslated regions (UTRs). |
