Draft genome sequence of flavobacterium covae strain LV-359-01. National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). SAMN26856627. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The Gram-negative bacterium, Flavobacterium covae, one of the causative agents of columnaris disease generates substantial mortality during the production of freshwater fish species. The intensive production of channel catfish is well-suited for the transmission of columnaris disease and during the growth cycle the pathogen is opportunistic, and outbreaks are common, as stressors such as increased rearing density, handling and poor water quality are increased. Our research has sought to understand the biological processes of Flavobacterium spp. including the development of biofilms and their contribution to disease. The draft genome of F. covae isolate LV-359-01 will assist in this research. The genome sequence has been deposited to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) BioSample and is available to the public under the accession number SAMN26856627. |
