Interpretive Summary: Colon cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in the world with approximately 4.0% of the people developing colorectal cancer in their lifetime. It is urgently needed to fully understand the mechanism of developing colon cancer and explore ways to ease the burden of the healthcare crisis. Gossypol is a complex plant polyphenol reported to be cytotoxic and anti-cancers, but little was known about its effect on gene expression in colon cancer cells. The objective of this study was to survey the effects of gossypol on gene expression of 55 molecular targets in human colon cancer cells. This technical note describes the dataset of gossypol effect on relative mRNA levels of 55 genes in human colon cancer cell line COLO 225 generated by the SYBR Green qPCR method.
