Interpretive Summary: Dissolved oxygen concentration is the most important water quality aspect for catfish aquaculture. Scientists from USDA-WARU have completed numerous studies that indicate that the minimum dissolved oxygen concentration should be above 3.0 ppm to maintain maximum feeding rates. Properly managing dissolved oxygen in catfish aquaculture ponds leads to better production and fish that reach market size quicker.
