Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This presentation informs the New Mexico Cotton Ginners Association (Growers and Ginners) of current research at the USDA-ARS cotton ginning and textile processing laboratories. Projects included cotton plastic contamination detection and removal, gin machinery investigations to improve cotton quality and ginning efficiency, and modeling the cost of conventional and high-speed roller ginning and saw ginning. Byproducts utilization current research and options for Western gins was requested as a special topic.
