Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This presentation will summarize vegetable oil-based polymers and composites prepared in supercritical or liquid CO2. We have explored the use of these polymers and composites in a variety of industrial applications, such as plastics, lubricants, coatings, etc. The results will be reported and discussed. We will specifically focus on the ring-opening polymerization of euphorbia oil (EuO) in liquid carbon dioxide-green media using Lewis acid catalyst. A variety of analytical techniques have been used to characterize the materials, including FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and gel permeation chromatography (GPC).
