Interpretive Summary: Many countries have launched national nutrition survey programs, and in some cases, survey data are publicly available. Use of national nutrition survey data allows assessment of nutrition and health status at a population level and provides evidence-based assessment to inform policy and regulations. The goal of this Research Topic is to share the latest findings from secondary analysis of national nutrition surveys with a special focus on how research findings may be translated to support the development of nutrition and public health policy.

Technical Abstract: National nutrition survey data provide insight into nutrient intake, food intake, and health status at a population level. Many countries, including the United States, South Korea, Mexico, Japan, and several European countries conduct national nutrition surveys, which generate important context for targeted nutrition policies including food-based dietary guidance (FBDGs). The goal of this Research Topic is to share the latest findings from secondary analysis of national nutrition surveys across the globe with a special focus on how research findings may be translated to support the development of nutrition and public health policies.
