Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The significant interest in aging, aging-related conditions, and geriatric syndromes has generated new ideas and approaches for optimizing late-life health. The successful advancement of novel therapies will depend on an evidence- and consensus-based roadmap to regulatory approval. Reduced mobility and mobility disability are clinically important geriatric conditions for which there are no approved pharmacological interventions. These indications can be easily and routinely assessed in randomized trials through several valid and reliable measures that demonstrate responsiveness to change that are clinically meaningful.
