Technical Abstract: These data were collected throughout the 2018 and 2019 growing seasons from fields of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) near Tifton, Georgia, USA. The data were intended to provide validation data for models of cropping systems describing plant water content (derived from above ground biomass), soil moisture, crop height, and phenological stage. This field campaigns were accomplished by researchers at the Gulf Atlantic Coastal Plain site of USDA Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) Network, which is managed by the USDA-ARS Southeast Watershed Research Laboratory in Tifton, GA. Field data for both years were collected from two farms. Detailed methods are described in an accompanying data paper. These data were intended for use to validate models of cropping systems that use remote sensing data, including optical imagery and synthetic aperture radar. There are nine datasets in this collection: 1. General information on the crop and field data (CottonCropData_2018_2019_ACF_TCF.xlsx) 2. Field measurements of cotton from the Ashburn Cooperator Farm in 2018 (ACF_2018.xlsx) 3. Field measurements of cotton from the Ty Ty Cooperator Farm in 2018 (TCF_2018.xlsx) 4. Field measurements of cotton from the Ashburn Cooperator Farm in 2019 (ACF_2019.xlsx) 5. Field measurements of cotton from the Ty Ty Cooperator Farm in 2019 (TCF_2019.xlsx) 6. Geospatial features providing exact locations of the ACF sites where data were collected in 2018 (ACF_2018_pt_WGS84.kmz). 7. Geospatial features providing exact locations of the ACF sites where data were collected in 2019 (ACF_2019_pt_WGS84.kmz). 8. Geospatial features providing exact locations of the TCF sites where data were collected in 2018 (TCF_2018_pt_WGS84.kmz). 9. Geospatial features providing exact locations of the TCF sites where data were collected in 2019 (TCF_2019_pt_WGS84.kmz).
