Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: An updated species list of lady beetles (Coccinellidae) for South Carolina is presented. The list contains new state records for several species and emendations of nomenclature and classification. Overall, the updated list shows a substantial increase in species known from the state since the last list was published in 1970. The updated list was generated by reviewing relevant literature on North American Coccinellidae, examining several collections containing Coccinellidae from South Carolina, and scrutinizing digital records. Recent state records are discussed in terms of geographic range expansions and historical records of lady beetle species in North America.
