Interpretive Summary: French Guiana in northern South America has a rich assortment of passionflowers, some of which are found nowhere else. Here we describe this flora, the passionflower species found in the country, resolve taxonomic and naming issues, and provide information on how this fits into the larger picture of protecting tropical biodiversity.

Technical Abstract: The present revision of the genus Passiflora (Passifloraceae) updates the Guianese checklist of 2007 with recent collecting data and taxonomic and nomenclatural advances concerning French Guiana. It recognizes 45 passionflower taxa, including 27 taxa of subgenus Passiflora, seven taxa of subgenus Decaloba, one taxon of subgenus Deidamioides, and 10 taxa of subgenus Astrophea. Seven names are typified and others are annotated as doubtful and/or controversial, in the perspective of a future monograph on passionflowers of French Guiana. Ten species appear to be endemic to French Guiana.
