Technical Abstract: Vision impairment increases with age and often leads to blindness. Elderly people with vision impairments share many problems related to food and eating. Those who want to continue living independently must make adaptations in buying, storing, and preparing food. This article presents a number of practical suggestions for the elderly with vision impairments to facilitate their foodways. Suggestions are also made for dietitians to assist these individuals in overcoming barriers to obtaining and consuming food.
