Publication Type: Other Publication Acceptance Date: 4/1/1995 Publication Date: N/A Citation: N/A Interpretive Summary: A number of different units are used to express soluble salt concentrations in irrigation water and soil extract solutions. A slide- rule type meter that converts between the different units, as well as showing the relationship between irrigation water quality and soil salinity, was developed and printed. Additionally, on the back of the meter a list of soil and water salinity units is defined. This Saltimeter provides a quick reference for these units as well as conversion between one set of units and another set. These are available through Charles W. Robbins, USDA-ARS, 3793 N 3600 E, Kimberly, ID 83341-5076.
