Technical Abstract: Selenosis in animals consists in acute (death) and chronic forms. The latter consists of either "alkali disease" or "blind staggers." This paper presents experimental evidence that blind staggers is a sulfatosis rather than selenosis. The disorder affects only ruminants and is associated with the consumption of high sulfate diets. |
