It focuses specifically on the influence of implants on the reproductive performance of beef heifers which have been implanted with growth stimulants. Producers need to be able to weigh the benefits of an increased growth rate with the potential for a decrease in fertility when replacement heifers are implanted. The second area of focus is on the increase in gain that can be expected from multiple as well as single implants. The article is intended to address directly, some of the management decisions producers must make in deciding whether or not to use growth stimulating implants.
