Technical Abstract: AN NIR Systems Beverage Analyzer instrument was installed in the laboratory for juice analysis of the USDA-ARS variety development program. Juice samples for the 1995 season were analyzed on this instrument, which has two fixed probes so that sample presentation is simplified. Results from NIR analysis are compared to conventional laboratory results for Brix and pol. NIR analysis is faster than conventional and requires no juice clarification agents.
