Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Starch-polyester composites are being investigated for potential use as plastic articles which can degrade in a biologically active environment after disposal. This report describes efforts to measure and improve the adhesion of starch with biodegradable polyesters as well as to compare the water resistance of these materials. The suitability of starch-polyester composites for use as injection molded articles and as laminated foams and films will be discussed.
