Publication Type: Abstract Only Publication Acceptance Date: 6/21/1996 Publication Date: N/A Citation: N/A Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: One hundred seventy-four Meishan-White Composite backcross progeny, their parents, and grandparents were typed for 16 erythrocyte antigens (EAA, EAB, EAC, EAD, EAE, EAF, EAG, EAH, EAI, EAJ, EAK, EAL, EAM, EAN, EAO, S), two lipoproteins (LPB, LPR), four red blood cell enzymes (ADA, GPI, PGD, PGM), seven serum proteins (TF, HPX, AMY, PI1, PI2, PO1A, A1BG), the RYR1 C/T mutation at base 1843, RYR1 microsatellite and 154 microsatellites distributed throughout the genome. EAB, EAC, the RYR1 C/T, and ADA were monomorphic in this population. Linkage analyses were performed using CRI- version 2.4. All informative loci had significant two-point linkages, except EAF, which only had 18 informative meioses. Of the 27 informative loci, 17 have previously been included in comprehensive porcine linkage maps. Linkages in this study were similar to those reported for these 17 loci and EAK and HPX can now be assigned to chromosome 9. Novel linkage assignments were EAA on chromosome 1, EAO and S on chromosome 6, PGM on chromosome 8, EAE and LPR on chromosome 9, EAD on chromosome 12, and EAI and AMY on chromosome 18. Weak evidence for EAF on chromosome 8 was also detected and will be tested by genotyping additional markers. In summary, a genomic scan with 154 microsatellites was sufficient to detect significant linkage to 26 of 27 informative loci tested, resulting in nine novel linkage assignments for the pig. |
