Publication Type: Proceedings Publication Acceptance Date: 8/8/1996 Publication Date: N/A Citation: N/A Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The objective of this paper is to chronicle the development and potential of an agroforestry decision support system for the United States family farm to assess the physical and financial consequences of an agroforestry system of choice. The model is a stand alone application but allows output to be saved in a spreadsheet format for further analysis as deemed d necessary by the user. Model output of a chosen agroforestry system can be compared to traditional farming output or other agroforestry crop combinations. The model requires user inputs and therefore, the quality of the output is influenced by the quality of the output is influenced by the quality of the input. This notwithstanding, the model presents to be a very valuable planning tool for family farms whose goals are to enhance cash flows and sustainability. Model outputs of different scenarios are presented for illustration purposes. |
