Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: A prototype corn silage processor was evaluated. This unit was configured as a roller mill-blower combination, similar to units used to process grain for ensiling. Specific energy, through-put and size reduction through the units were measured. A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of grain processing on milk production and other digestibility characteristics. Preliminary results indicate a significant improvement in milk production over a control corn silage.
